Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police seize drugs worth Rs. 35 crore

Aizawl: Acting on a tip-off, a combined team of Assam Rifles and Mizoram police seized 11.39 kilogram of methamphetamine tablets and 218 grams of heroin altogether worth Rs. 35 crore during a joint operation at Dungtlang village in east Mizoram's Champhai district on Wednesday, an official of Assam Rifles said.

A 25-year-old Abu Tahir Mazumdar from Assam’s Silchar town and two females identified as Zothanluaii (50) and HT Vanlalzari (41), both from Champhai’s Zotlang have been arrested for possessing the contrabands, the official said.

One Maruti Suzuki swift car used for transporting the contrabands was also seized by the combined team of Assam Rifles and state police, she said.

The seized heroin was concealed in 18 soap cases, she said.
