Assam CM pulls up Nalbari DC over lavish lunch at Cabinet meeting
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has showcased his utter disappointment regarding the unnecessary elaborate catering arrangements made during a cabinet meeting held in Nalbari on June 27.
Despite having a clear order from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) to provide a simple vegetarian meal, the District Commissioner (DC) of Nalbari Varnali Deka, had arranged for elaborate dishes after the cabinet meeting.
According to an official communication, Chief Minister Sarma expressed his utter dissatisfaction over the lavish meals arranged for the attendees at the meeting on June 27.
The DC has clearly disregarded the directive of the CMO to maintain simplicity in the food and beverage arrangements.
The letter read, “In spite of repeatedly instructed from this office to arrange a simple vegetarian meal during the Cabinet Meeting held on 27/06/20204 at Nalbari, you have not followed the instruction accordingly. Rather elaborate arrangements were made for serving the lunch with too many items. I express my extreme displeasure over this action.”
The CM further wrote, “Henceforth, such instructions should be carried out scrupulously.”
