Assam: 5 ACS officers suspended for refusing to join new postings

Guwahati: Five Assam Civil Services (ACS) officers have been suspended for refusing to join their places of postings in the election department.

Assam Personnel Department Commissioner and Secretary MS Manivannan issued individual suspension orders for Saroj Kumar Deka, Kabyashree Dihingia, Kongkan Jyoti Saikia, Parishmita Dehingia, and Jintu Sarma.

The orders stated that these officers had been transferred to new places under the election department but they refused to join the new postings.

According to MS Manivannan, the officers disobeyed the directive of the authority, destroyed office decorum and failed to act in the public interest.

Saroj Kumar Deka, who was serving as the assistant commissioner of Parbatjhora in Kokrajhar district, was transferred to Majuli as election officer.

On the other hand, Kabyashree Dihingia, the election officer of Baksa, was transferred to Dima Hasao in the same role.

Kongkan Jyoti Saikia, the election officer in Tinsukia, was transferred to Barpeta in the same role, while Parishmita Dehingia, who served as the election officer in Golaghat district’s Bokakhat, was transferred to Sivasagar in the same role.

Jintu Sarma, who held the position of assistant commissioner of Jonai in Dhemaji district, was transferred to Majuli as election officer.
