Arms, ammunition, and explosives recovered in Manipur

Imphal: Manipur police conducted a cordon and search operation at Wangoo Yellangba hill area in the southern part of the state at around 5:35 am on Tuesday.

During the operation that was jointly launched by the team of the commando unit Kakching district and Wangoo police station, they recovered guns, bombs, and explosive items including one country-made 9 mm pistol with a magazine, six .36 grenades, bags, walkie-talkies, a ring of the grenade launcher, three covers of two-inch motor smoke shells, four shells of two-inch mortars, and one tube launcher.

However, no one has been arrested in the operation and a case has been registered.

The operation that was carried out under the supervision of the Superintendent of police, Kakching district, Thokchom Vikramjit Singh lasted around four hours.

The seized items have been handed over to the Wangoo police station for legal proceedings, the police added.
