Abducted man shot dead by miscreants in Manipur

Imphal: A group of unknown gunmen shot dead a youth in broad daylight in captivity at a secluded area of Takhel Ngaram road, Imphal East district under Lamlai police station on Saturday, an official said on Sunday.

The victim would be around 25-35 years old and his body was found with bullets piercing from the back side of the head to the frontal part, the police said.

On receiving the report at around 4 pm on Saturday, a team from the Lamlai police station rushed to the scene where the victim was found in a pool of blood.

The police and a team of state forensic science experts discovered the victim had his eyes blindfolded with a towel and his hands were tied behind his back.

Locals informed the police that the victim was brought by a group of armed men who bumped off bullets on his head and died on the spot.

The forensic experts carried out an inquest of the dead body as well as the surrounding areas.

The identity of the deceased could not be established immediately.

The dead body has been deposited at the JNIMS hospital morgue.

A case has been registered at Lamlai police station in this regard, the police said.
