65 suspects detained and warlike weapons seized in Manipur
Imphal: Security forces and police detained 65 persons in the raids and frisking operations at 102 checkposts installed at vulnerable areas in different districts and recovered a warlike store of weapons from two hideouts abandoned by miscreants.
The operations yielded the recovery of a four-wheeler, arms, ammunition, and explosives and arrests of the suspects on Friday.
This was stated in a press statement of the Manipur police issued on Saturday.
During the search operations in the hill ranges of Thamnapokpi Uyok Ching, Imphal East District, the following recoveries were made: 13 Long range Mortars/Rail Guns, four Burmese Iron rod IED, 24 live Burmese IEDs, one Modified Lathode Grenade Launcher/Gun, one HK G3 Rifle with one Magazine, one Japanese .303 Rifle, one .303 Rifle with one Magazine, four Improvised .303 Rifle, one .22 Pistol along with a Magazine, one HE-36 Grenade, one Local IED, 115 live ammunition rounds, two Chinese Radio Set, five Lathod Grenade empty case, and four empty shell of Pompi bomb.
One four-wheeler vehicle was also recovered in the operations from K Leihaoram village of Thoubal District.
The arrested persons were later released but the captured articles have been handed over to the Manipur Police for further investigation and disposal, the police said.
