Over 10 dead as bus carrying Indians plunges into river in Nepal
Kathamandu : At least 14 people have been killed after a bus carrying 40 passengers plunged into the Marsyangdi river in Nepal 's Tanahun district on Friday. The bus, which met with the tragic accident, was en route to Kathmandu from Pokhara.
As per reports, the accident which also left 16 people injured took place at Aaina Pahara in Tanahun district.
The bus, bearing number plate UP (Uttar Pradesh) FT 7623, was lying in a complete wreckage near the Marsyangdi river.

The Indian passengers were staying at Majheri Resort in Pokhara.
Meanwhile, police personnel are carrying out rescue operations at the accident site.
It may be mentioned that Nepal’s topography often makes the Himalayan nature susceptible to disasters.

Last month, a landslide had swept away two passenger buses carrying over 50 passengers into Trishuli river in Nepal.
Nepal is prone to natural disasters, with nearly 22,000 natural shocks recorded between 2019 and 2024 by the Government of Nepal (GoN).
As per reports, approximately 80 percent of the country’s population lives in rural areas vulnerable to droughts, earthquakes, floods, and landslides
