Tripura BJP demands apology from Rahul Gandhi for "insulting" Hindus
Agartala: Tripura BJP President Rajib Bhattacharya on Tuesday accused Congress of having a long history of insulting Hindus and demanded an apology from Rahul Gandhi for his recent statement in the Lok Sabha.
During a press conference, Bhattacharya criticized the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, for making what he described as a baseless and false statement.
He said, "His behaviour and statement were inaccurate and inappropriate. The discussion was on the speech of the President of India, but the Leader of Opposition diverted his statement, making false and fabricated claims."

Bhattacharya claimed that his statement not only insulted Hindus but also labelled them as liars and sophisticated.
"We, the BJP, condemn his statement and protest it. We appeal to the senior Congress leaders to direct Rahul Gandhi to maintain the dignity of the Parliament", he said.

Bhattacharya further said that Rahul Gandhi held no constitutional post since 2004, suggesting that his behaviour and speech during that period might have been consistent with his position.
However, he argued that such behaviour is now inappropriate for his role as Leader of Opposition and is being viewed negatively by the public.
