NHPC signs MoU with Norwegian company to promote solar power

DIBRUGARH: The National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited (NHPC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with M/s Ocean Sun, a Norwegian company renowned for its expertise in floating solar technology.

The MoU is aimed at fulfil the shared objectives of NHPC and Ocean Sun to explore collaboration in demonstrating Ocean Sun's floating solar energy technology.

This technology involves photovoltaic (PV) panels mounted on a hydro-elastic membrane, offering innovative solutions for harnessing solar energy on water bodies.

NHPC and Ocean Sun aim to identify suitable sites for deploying this technology.

The MOU signing ceremony took place in a hybrid mode, with VR Shrivastava, executive director (REGH) of NHPC, and Kristian Tørvold, CEO of Ocean Sun, sealing the agreement.

The event witnessed the presence of May-Elin Stener, ambassador of Norway to India, along with Raj Kumar Chaudhary, director (technical), and Rajat Gupta, executive director (SBDC) of NHPC, at the embassy of Norway in New Delhi.

Dr Acquino Vimal, Ambassador of India to Norway, also participated in the event held in Oslo.
