NEW DELHI: Narendra Modi is set to make his first international trip to Italy shortly after taking oath as Prime Minister of India for a third term June 09.

Following his recent victory in the Lok Sabha elections, Modi accepted an invitation from Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to attend the G7 Summit, scheduled to take place from June 13 to 15 in Borgo Egnazia, Apulia.

Expressing his gratitude, Modi thanked Italian PM Meloni for the invitation to the G7 Summit Outreach Sessions in Italy’s Puglia, as per a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs.

During the summit, PM Modi will also participate in bilateral meetings with US President Joe Biden and other G7 leaders.

Italy currently holds the rotating presidency of the G7, a forum that includes Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK, and the US, with the European Union also participating as a guest.

This year's summit will focus on several critical global issues, including the global economic landscape, international trade, climate change, the Russia-Ukraine war, and the Israel-Hamas conflict.
