Guwahati: Tamil Nadu, long seen as a stronghold of Dravidian politics with over five decades of dominance by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(DMK) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(AIDMK), may be heading toward a political shift.

The state is now witnessing a fierce three-way contest between the ruling DMK led by Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, the AIADMK aligned with the Bharatiya Janata Party and newcomer Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam(TVK).

Early trends suggest TVK has moved ahead of the DMK in the state.

Although most exit polls point to a second consecutive win for the DMK, Axis My India has indicated a strong “Vijay effect,” projecting that TVK could emerge as a kingmaker by securing around 100 of the 234 seats, with the majority mark set at 118.
