Guwahati: IndiGo cancelled all departures from Delhi until midnight on Friday, intensifying the nationwide chaos that has gripped its operations for several days.

The airline took this step as it continued battling major internal disruptions that have destabilised schedules across its network.

Operational troubles have triggered heavy cancellations around the country, with a news agency reporting that more than 400 flights were grounded on Friday alone. Multiple major airports saw long queues and frustrated passengers as delays mounted throughout the day.

Official data from the Ministry of Civil Aviation shows IndiGo’s on-time performance collapsing to 8.5% as of December 4, 2025, marking one of the steepest declines for the carrier. The situation worsened steadily through the week: Bengaluru registered over 100 flight cancellations on Friday morning, while Hyderabad saw more than 90. Other airports also struggled as the airline operated with a shortage of cabin crew and other operational constraints.

The prolonged disruption has begun to affect investor sentiment as well. IndiGo’s stock slipped 2.5%, closing at Rs 5,298.5 on the BSE, after the spike in cancellations and the airline’s request for temporary regulatory relaxations became public.
