Guwahati: An alleged terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district yesterday resulted in the deaths of two soldiers and two porters.

Three others were injured in the incident, which involved an exchange of fire between soldiers and terrorists in the Butapathri area.

The attack began when suspected terrorists opened fire on an army vehicle in the evening, prompting retaliatory fire from the soldiers. The injured individuals were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

This incident is reported as the second terror attack in the Union Territory within 72 hours.

On Thursday, six construction workers and a doctor lost their lives in a similar attack at a housing camp for tunnel construction workers.

The victims included Dr Shahnawaz from Kashmir's Budgam, Gurmeet Singh from Punjab's Gurdaspur and Mohammad Haneef, Faheem Nasir and Kaleem from Bihar.

Earlier yesterday, a labourer from Uttar Pradesh, Pritam Singh, was shot and injured by terrorists in the Tral area of Pulwama district.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah condemned the attack, expressing concern over the recent surge in violence in the Valley.
