Bihar Election Results 2025: NDA leads 190 seats, crosses 2020 seat mark

Guwahati: Bihar’s National Democratic Alliance (NDA) surged ahead in the Assembly Election counting, signaling a decisive victory and positioning Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to secure a fifth consecutive term.

The alliance led in 190 of the 243 seats as trends emerged, reinforcing Kumar’s status as the state’s longest-serving chief minister.

By 12 pm, the NDA had already surpassed its 2020 performance, when it won 122 seats. In contrast, the Mahagathbandhan trailed with leads in just 49 constituencies, while Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party remained without a lead in any seat.

Among key candidates, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, the Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial face, was trailing by over 100 votes in Raghopur.

Other prominent contestants include Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) candidate Tej Pratap, and Bihar Congress president Rajesh Kumar.

Vote counting began at 8 am, and most exit polls had predicted a sweeping NDA victory. Despite these projections, Tejashwi Yadav dismissed the forecasts, claiming that the Mahagathbandhan would win a decisive majority.

The elections witnessed a historic voter turnout of 67.13% during the two-phase polling held on November 6 and 11, reflecting robust public participation in the 243-member Assembly elections.

Even as trends favored the NDA, Congress MP Tariq Anwar remained cautious, stating, “We still have hope; the situation can change. Counting involves 20 rounds, and we are only in the third or fourth round.”
