Guwahati: Bihar Election Results 2025: Bihar entered a decisive phase on Friday morning as counting of votes for the Assembly Election began at 8 am, quickly revealing the direction in which the political winds were blowing.

By 10:45 am, early trends placed the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) far ahead, leading in 189 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan trailed behind with 51 seats. The BJP, powering the NDA, surged past the 50-seat mark and held leads in 70 constituencies.

Among high-profile candidates, Tejashwi Yadav, the Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial contender, secured an early lead in Raghopur.

On the NDA side, celebrated folk singer Maithili Thakur, contesting her first election on a BJP ticket, also moved ahead in Alinagar, marking a strong debut.

The final outcome across all 243 Assembly seats will determine whether Nitish Kumar, the JD(U) chief and Bihar’s longest-serving chief minister, will extend his leadership into a fifth consecutive term, or whether the state is poised for a political shift.

This election recorded an unprecedented voter turnout of 67.13% during the two-phase polling held on November 6 and 11, marking one of the most enthusiastic electoral responses in the state’s history.

Even as most exit polls projected a decisive NDA victory, Tejashwi Yadav rejected those predictions, insisting that the Mahagathbandhan is on course for a sweeping win.

Several prominent leaders are also battling closely watched contests, including Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) candidate Tej Pratap, and Bihar Congress president Rajesh Kumar, adding further intensity to the high-stakes electoral showdown.

In a notable development, the ECI confirmed that no booth-level discrepancies or malpractice surfaced during post-poll scrutiny, marking a rare instance in recent electoral history where no repolling has been deemed necessary in Bihar.
