Arunachal: Ladakh to Tawang mega car rally to mark IAF’s 92nd anniversary
Guwahati: The defence ministry on Saturday said that a 7,000-kilometre-long car rally from Thoise in Ladakh to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh will be held to mark the 92nd anniversary of the Indian Air Force (IAF).
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will give a warm valediction to the car rally from New Delhi’s National War Memorial on October 1, 2024 before the formal flag-off of the rally ‘Vayu Veer Vijeta’ from Thoise.
Organised by the IAF in coordination with the veterans of the Uttarakhand War Memorial, the rally is aimed at raising awareness among the people about the glorious history of the IAF.
The rally also aims to enlighten the masses on the deeds of valour of the air warriors in different wars and rescue operations and attract the youth to serve the motherland.

The mega rally will be flagged off from Thoise - one of the world’s highest altitude air force stations at 3,068 metres above mean sea level - on October 8, 2024. It will culminate at Tawang on October 29.
As many as 52 air warriors, including women, will be part of the car rally, which will also see the participation of former air force chiefs in different legs.
During the 7,000-kilometre-long journey, the rallyists will have a total of 16 halts also interacting with the student community at different colleges and universities.
The IAF’s Adventure Cell is leading and coordinating the mega rally.
The IAF was established on October 8, 1932.
