Guwahati: The National Integration Tour organised under Operation Sadbhavana by the Spear Corps of the Indian Army was successfully conducted between October 14 and October 23, 2024 for nine youth ambassadors from Manipur.

Kohima-based Defence PRO Lt Col Amit Shukla said the tour culminated with a grand ceremony held at Koirengei in Imphal West district of Manipur Wednesday.

The tour - aimed at fostering national unity and promoting cultural understanding - was flagged off by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Red Shield Division on October 14 from Koirengei, he added.

During the 10-day tour, the participants visited Army establishments, places of historical importance and got an opportunity to interact with civil dignitaries and senior officers of Army while visiting Kolkata, Tawang and Shillong, he said.

During the visit to Shillong, the ambassadors had the privilege of meeting Meghalaya Governor C H Vijayshankar and visiting Director General (DG) of Assam Rifles Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, he added.

On the culmination of the tour, the participants were felicitated by the GOC of Red Shield Division at a reception at Koirengei, Lt Col Shukla said.

The tour provided the youth ambassadors with a unique and invaluable opportunity to engage with the Indian Army and experience India’s diverse cultural fabric, he added.

These interactions and experiences will leave a lasting impression helping to build connections and deepen their understanding of India’s unity in diversity, he said.

Lt Col Shukla further said that the Indian Army, through Operation Sadbhavana, continues its efforts to promote national integration and goodwill across the country, providing today’s youth with meaningful opportunities while offering insights into India’s rich history and its promising future.
