Nagaland: Vehicle illegally enters railway tracks, Dimapur police detain driver
Dimapur: A vehicle illegally entered the railway tracks near the old flyover area at Burma Camp in Nagaland's Dimapur and got stuck on Line No. 1 at around 11:35 pm on Tuesday.
On receiving the information, police personnel and railway authorities promptly reached the spot and removed the vehicle from the tracks, preventing any accident.
The vehicle (Mahindra Thar, NL-01/CA-8181), driven by Thepfuneituo (65), son of the late Khriezo Rio of Signal Angami here, was found to have entered the railway tracks illegally, the Dimapur Commissionerate of Police said in a release on Wednesday.
The vehicle and its driver have been taken into custody, and a case has been registered at the Dimapur RPF station vide Case No. 346/2025 under Sections 153 and 147 of the Railway Act.
Police said a preliminary inquiry indicates that the incident resulted from gross negligence and violation of traffic and railway safety norms.
The case is being investigated to ascertain all circumstances, including whether alcohol or any other substance was involved, the release said.
The Dimapur Police cautioned the public that unauthorized entry onto railway tracks is a serious offense and poses grave danger to life and public safety.
It added that such reckless actions not only endanger the individual involved but also put passengers and critical infrastructure at risk.
The Police Commissionerate urged the public to report any suspicious or unsafe activities promptly, emphasizing that safety is a shared responsibility.
