Nagaland University and Bangladesh explore collaboration avenues
Dimapur: An interactive session between faculty members of the School of Engineering & Technology (SET), Nagaland University, Kohima campus, and Zikrul Hasan Fahad, Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh, Guwahati, explored avenues for collaboration between Nagaland University and universities in Bangladesh.
At the meeting held at the university seminar hall on Thursday, Prof. N. Venuh, Pro-VC of Nagaland University, Kohima campus, stressed the university’s commitment to advancing international academic partnerships, a varsity release said.
He emphasised the importance of cross-border collaboration in science, engineering, and technology to address shared developmental and environmental challenges in the region.
Prof. Sujata Dash, Dean of SET, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the school’s departments, ongoing research projects, and academic initiatives.
Dash also highlighted potential areas for future collaboration between Nagaland University and universities in Bangladesh. These include joint research projects involving sustainable engineering, renewable energy, and environmental management to address regional and global challenges.
During the interaction, Fahad expressed appreciation for Nagaland University’s proactive approach and extended support for establishing academic linkages with leading Bangladeshi universities.
Potential areas of cooperation discussed included student exchange programmes, internships, joint research initiatives, and the development of a collaborative Master’s programme in disaster management.
Prof. Nigamananda Das from the English department of NU noted that international students from Bangladesh are already pursuing higher studies and research at Nagaland University, underscoring the institution’s growing global engagement and welcoming academic environment.
