Nagaland: Union Minister reviews infrastructure and welfare schemes
Dimapur: Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Social Justice and Empowerment, B.L. Verma, concluded a two-day visit to Nagaland on Thursday, during which he reviewed infrastructure projects and the implementation of government welfare schemes in Chümoukedima district.
On Thursday, he visited a palm oil plantation in Chümoukedima village and the Health and Wellness Centre at Diphupar B. At the plantation, he interacted with local farmers and officials, assessing progress under the National Edible Oil-Oil Palm initiative. He highlighted the role of palm oil cultivation in enhancing farmers’ incomes, promoting self-reliance in edible oil production, and strengthening the rural economy.
At the Health and Wellness Centre, Verma inspected the facilities, interacted with healthcare workers, and took stock of primary healthcare services, stressing the government’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery in rural and semi-urban areas.
On Wednesday, he reviewed the construction of Unity Mall at Chümoukedima, urging officials and contractors to maintain quality standards and ensure timely completion. He also visited the Anganwadi Centre at Diphupar, the Centre for Disease Control, and the Cancer Treatment Centre at the Referral Hospital to evaluate infrastructure, manpower, and service delivery.
During a visit to a fair price shop in Chümoukedima, he interacted with beneficiaries and officials, reaffirming the central government’s commitment to strengthening the public distribution system and ensuring transparency.
Verma chaired a review meeting on the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes at the Chümoukedima DC office, underlining the Government of India’s focus on the development of the northeastern region.
