Nagaland to launch students' health card on Teacher’s Day
Dimapur: Nagaland adviser to school education department, Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, on Friday said the state government would launch students' health card on Teacher’s Day on September 5 to take care of their health.
Addressing the awardees at the Nagaland Government School Students Meritorious Award programme at Morung conference hall, directorate of school education, in Kohima, Yhome said the department is putting its best efforts to upgrade the education system in the state for which the government schools are being given free quality education.
He hoped that the education system in the state would greatly improve when a rush time comes for admission in government primary schools, middle schools, high schools and higher secondary schools.
He urged the teachers to build a cordial relationship with students to create a congenital atmosphere in the schools.
Altogether 12 meritorious students from government schools who came out with flying colours were awarded at the programme.
Congratulating the awardees, Yhome said there are 1,939 government schools in Nagaland, covering every nook and corner of the state, equipped with well qualified teachers for improvement of the education system.
“People think those students who go to government school are from financially from weaker section. The people should change their mindset,” he said.
Principal director, directorate of school education, Thavaseelan K, in his opening remarks, said the award ceremony program was started in 2023 with the aim to motivate the students in government schools.
At the programme, Yhome gave away certificates and cash awards to the awardees while commissioner and secretary, school education, Kevileno gave away the certificates to 24 government high schools and three government higher secondary schools for securing 100% pass percentage in the HSSLC and HSSLC examination 2024.
