Nagaland: Preserve and pass down traditions to future generations, says CM Neiphiu Rio
Dimapur: Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio on Friday emphasised the importance of preserving and passing down traditions to future generations.
Addressing the golden celebration of the Kohima Lotha Hoho at Nagaland Baptist Church Council convention centre in Kohima as the chief guest, Rio urged the people to direct their energy and resources toward meaningful and constructive pursuits.
Congratulating the Kohima Lotha Hoho on reaching the 50-year milestone, which coincided with the Tokhu Emong festival of the Lotha tribe, he lauded the community’s hardworking and innovative spirit, describing it as an inspiration to others.
Referring to Wokha district, home of the Lotha tribe, as a land rich in beauty, resources, resilience and potential, Rio noted that the community ranks high in per capita income and human development indicators.
Rio also officially launched a book titled “The Divine in the Ordinary” written by Sentienla P Ezung after the formal programme.
Addressing the occasion as the guest of honour, Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton urged the youth to work hard, pursue knowledge and rise above divisive “isms” while upholding unity, forgiveness and harmony for the progress of Nagaland.
He expressed gratitude to the Lotha community for its steadfast support of the state government.
The community members presented cultural dances and songs to mark the occasion.
