The Nagaland police department said an effort was made to translate the important portions of all three new criminal laws - Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyan (BSA) to sensitise the public in their own dialects.

The investigation officers have been asked to conduct rallies and seminars for creating awareness amongst general public.

Different units of the Nagaland police conducted seminars on the new laws for police personnel at police station level, ward members, students, NGOs and village elders.

Pamphlets and documentary materials on the new laws were distributed while banners in local dialects were displayed in town areas to ensure partnership of all important stakeholders of society.

Nagaland University also organised a lecture programme on the new laws, coinciding with their enforcement on July 1.

The lecture on three new criminal laws was held in hybrid mode with the physical venue at the conference hall in the examination building of Nagaland University, Lumami campus.

The university had also organised an invited talk-cum-sensitization programme and dissemination of information on the three new criminal laws through virtual mode with experts from the relevant field on June 3.
