Nagaland: NSCN factions have tacit understanding with Myanmar military junta, claims RPP
Dimapur: The Rising People’s Party (RPP) said some NSCN factions in Myanmar and Nagaland have a tacit understanding with the Myanmar military junta.
“At a time when the entire ethnic peoples including the majority Burmans are with the Pro-Democracy Forces (PDF) fighting the junta, the Nagas in Burma have lost their national vision. Instead of strengthening the PDF like the Chins, Shans, Kachins and other ethnic groups have done, it is alarming that the Naga armed factions in Burma have chosen to side with the junta,” the RPP said in a statement.
The party also referred to the claim of the NSCN-K (Yung Aung) that the Myanmarese army is going to conscript the Naga youth in Myanmar, calling it alarming.
However, it said, after having scrutinized the short-sighted Naga policy in Myanmar, this situation was inevitable.
The RPP felt that due to this short-sighted approach, the Nagas with their zero contribution or rather anti-PDF stand will be inevitably sidelined or marginalised when the future federal structure of Myanmar eventually materialises after the PDF eventually wins the civil war in the country.
The party said it has been brought to light that the junta has already taken census of men and women in Naga self-administered zone and other Naga-inhabited areas.
“The forced conscription is only a matter of time,” it added.
Saying that the Maynmarese Nagas are in a dire situation, the RPP said the Naga civil society organisations and armed groups must formulate a national vision for Myanmarese Nagas against the context of civil war in that country.
The RPP also questioned all the 24 Nagala political groups (NPGs) stationed in Nagaland about their policy regarding the Nagas of Myanmar.
“Should the national struggle be reduced to taxing the common man in Nagaland to the point of exhaustion, or should the NPGs do something concrete for the aspirations of a forgotten people during their time of existential crisis,” it asked.
