Nagaland launches digital learning hub, AI News platform at Startup Fest
Dimapur: The National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) in Kohima on Monday launched a digital learning and simulation hub, a digital delivery of statutory services initiative, and Pulse App, an AI-powered news platform.
S Krishnan, secretary of the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), officially inaugurated the initiatives.
Speaking at the inaugural function as special guest, Krishnan praised the talent of Naga youth, highlighting their creativity and English proficiency.
He said institutions like NIELIT play a key role in nurturing these skills, noting that out of 55 NIELIT centres in India, 20 are located in the Northeast.
Krishnan said India’s digital economy is expanding at twice the pace of the overall economy so that India must rely on domestic technologies for cybersecurity.
He described the NIELIT Kohima cyber security lab as state-of-the-art and among the best in the country, supporting cyber policing.
He also commended NIELIT Kohima and NIELIT Mokokchung for their strong showing at a recent AI event in New Delhi.
Krishnan underlined the importance of entrepreneurship, saying startups drive job creation. He expressed hope that more startups and collaborations would emerge from the Northeast.
He highlighted the role of Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) in mobilizing private equity and praised the operations of STPI Kohima.
Secretary of MeitY, suggested exploring a new software park due to space constraints at the existing STPI centre and urged the state to capitalize on its service-sector potential.
The programme also presented the Nagaland Digital Startup Awards 2025 to outstanding initiatives in the state.
