Nagaland is a land of courage and bravery: Om Birla
Dimapur: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla termed Nagaland a land of courage, bravery, and valour, and a place of bold and fearless people.
Speaking at a felicitation program organized by the Sri Marwari Sammelan Dimapur at Lions Club Dimapur shortly after his arrival in Dimapur on Sunday afternoon, Birla said, “If we wish to realize the dream of a developed India, we must work in alignment with the culture and work ethic of Nagaland, a spirit that deeply connects to the idea of an Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India).”
Birla will inaugurate the 22nd annual conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Zone-III in Kohima on Monday.
He said new doors of development have opened in the northeastern states over the past decade, adding that there is still immense potential for further growth.
Birla noted that the people of Nagaland have a creative spirit, innovative thinking, and the courage to work hard even in the face of adversity—qualities that inspire all.
He said Nagaland’s natural beauty and environment will attract more domestic and international tourists in the coming years.
Stressing that everyone must focus on developing their workplace, Birla called for attracting industries, investors, and agricultural entrepreneurs, as well as promoting tourism, because India’s diversity in tourism is unmatched anywhere in the world.
He hoped that through everyone’s collective effort, both Nagaland and India would continue to progress.
Stating that India’s true strength lies in its diversity, its many cultures, cuisines, attires, and traditions, he said, “Despite these differences, it is democracy that unites us.”
Birla lauded the Marwari community, saying that although they have come from different states to the northeastern region, they embraced the cultural heritage of each state through their determination, hard work, and self-confidence, wherever they settled.
He added that, driven by a spirit of service, sacrifice, and commitment, the community is always the first to step forward in times of disaster, crisis, or challenge.
