Kohima: An Irish public art installation titled ‘Danu’ is on display at the ongoing Hornbill Festival in Nagaland's Naga Heritage Village, Kisama.

Created by Irish artists Lisa Sweeney, Richard Babington, and Johnny O’Reilly, along with Indian artist Sanjib Saha, the installation draws inspiration from the Celtic figure Danu and incorporates elements associated with Irish seasonal festivals and St. Brigid.

The artwork, first exhibited in Kolkata, is made of iron, wood, bamboo, and fabric, and includes a small pool of water at its base.

The installation is supported by the Embassy of Ireland in New Delhi and is showcased in partnership with the Nagaland government and the state Task Force for Music & Arts.

The third day of the 26th Hornbill Festival featured cultural presentations, including Naga dances and folk traditions from various tribes.

The program was hosted by Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton and attended by dignitaries including Bhutanese Ambassador Jigme Thinlye Namgyal, Air Marshal Surat Singh, Lt. Gen Mohit Wadhwa, and Simon Lee Broughton, founding editor of Songlines.

The day’s events showcased the cultural practices and heritage of the Naga tribes.
