During the day, she visited the Anganwadi Centre 'A' in Kiphire and held a brief interaction with the local Anganwadi workers, helpers, and children.

She also handed over a cheque provided by the State Bank of India to the centre.

Sitharaman was accompanied by Nagaland Tourism and Higher Education Minister Temjen Imna Along, Minister for Housing & Mechanical Engineering Bashangmongba Chang, and a host of other dignitaries.

After she arrived in Kiphire district on Thursday afternoon, Sitharaman visited the District Hospital Kiphire and conducted the ceremonial handing over of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives of the State Bank of India (SBI) to the hospital.

In her address, she said that though it took some time to plan, she was finally able to visit the aspirational district to know the people's aspirations and to review the implementation of various CSR projects in the district.

Recalling her interactions with the state government and the lack of resources that Nagaland faces, she said that each time she visits Nagaland, she makes sure that substantial CSR is brought to the state.

During the programme, she also handed over medical equipment for a blood bank worth Rs 5.81 lakh, medical equipment for the hospital worth Rs 59 lakh, and five bike ambulances for the primary health centres of Kiphire district to the District Hospital Kiphire under the SBI CSR project.

She thanked the SBI for volunteering and coming up with meaningful and critical medical equipment contributions to the District Hospital Kiphire under its CSR project.
