Nagaland: DMC launches digital rate board in Dimapur
Dimapur: The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) officially launched its digital rate board at New Market in Nagaland's Dimapur on Monday, providing customers with real-time access to updated pricing information.
The launch marks a significant step toward enhancing the transparency and accessibility of market rates for the public.
Inaugurating the digital rate board, DMC chairman Hukheto Yepthomi said the initiative reflects the council’s broader goal of improving public convenience through technology-driven solutions. He added that the installation would help people know what to pay for various items and prevent overpricing.
DMC CEO Thungchabemo Tungoe emphasised the council’s commitment to modernising public services, stating that this small initiative demonstrates Dimapur’s progress.
“Today, we have installed digital rate boards at three locations in Dimapur as a beginning, and we plan to expand to other areas,” Tungoe said. He encouraged other councillors to implement similar initiatives to drive the town forward.
Tungoe added that the digital system is designed to enhance transparency and reduce confusion. “The installation will display daily rates, category-wise pricing, and other key service details in a clear and easily readable format,” he said.
He also mentioned that business houses can advertise their products through the digital board.
Delivering the keynote address, Neingutoulie Kenguruse, convenor of the Market Review Committee, highlighted the importance of digitisation in streamlining market operations and ensuring consumers have access to accurate, updated price information.
