Nagaland CM inaugurates Police Officers’ Mess, calls for renewed vigour in service
Dimapur: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Friday called upon the police officers of the state to continue their journey of service with renewed vigour, discipline, and determination.
Speaking at the police conference hall after inaugurating the Nagaland Police Officers’ Mess at New Police Reserve, Phesema, in Kohima, Rio also urged the officers to bring greater pride, honour, and laurels to the state.
He exhorted them to move forward with unity, integrity, and unwavering dedication while in service.
Calling the new police officers’ mess a significant milestone in the progress and development of the state police department, Rio said that beyond serving as an officers’ mess, the building also holds the potential to host various programmes and official engagements whenever required.
He asked all officers to make meaningful use of the space for greater efficiency, camaraderie, and well-being.
Rio hoped that the new facility would serve as a reminder of the trust placed in the police officers and as an inspiration to strive for excellence in every duty they undertake.
During the programme, the Nagaland Police Mess Reservation App was also launched, and the pension payment orders (PPOs) for 39 retired police personnel, along with group team insurance benefits to nominees under the police salary package, were handed over.
In his welcome address, DGP Rupin Sharma said pending cases of pensions and gratuity would be settled in the next six months, targeting 91% of pension cases.
Speaking on the occasion, Nagaland Accountant General Arun Ahluwalia said the handing over of PPOs to retiring officers symbolises the state’s recognition of their dedication, courage, and long years of service.
Congratulating all pensioners receiving their PPOs, he said their contributions have strengthened Nagaland’s internal security architecture.
“As institutions of governance, it is our responsibility to ensure that your transition into retired life is dignified, timely, and completely free of procedural uncertainty,” Ahluwalia added.
