According to reports, the Eastern Nagaland legislators were informed that the Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) document was still in the preliminary stages and was merely a working paper.

It may be mentioned here that twenty legislators from Eastern Nagaland, who were camping in New Delhi since March 15, met with AK Mishra, MHA advisor (Northeast) and joint director of the intelligence bureau (IB) at the Nagaland House on March 18.

Subsequently, they held another meeting with AK Mishra, union home secretary, IB director, IB joint director, and additional secretary for home affairs.

In the meetings, the Eastern Nagaland legislators were reassured that extensive analysis and consultations with all stakeholders were necessary before the formulation of the final draft.

Reports claimed that there remained flexibility for modifications and additions to the document.

Additionally, the MHA did not specify a timeline for the completion of the final draft on Frontier Nagaland issue.

It was further stated that the Eastern Nagaland Legislators Union (ENLU) officially communicated the outcomes of the meetings to the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO) and urged them to temporarily suspend their agitation.

The ENLU also expressed a desire to meet with union home minister Amit Shah to discuss the matter further.
