KOHIMA: In light of the ongoing protests by the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO), the BJP emphasized the importance of resolving the “public emergency” declared by the group through “democratic dialogue”.

Acknowledging the concerns raised by ENPO regarding the Frontier Nagaland Territory, the state unit of the BJP recognised the grievances and demands of the organization.

They urge all stakeholders to engage in constructive dialogue to seek a resolution to the issues at hand.

The recent burning of effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, union home minister Amit Shah, and national BJP president JP Nadda in Tuensang on Wednesday (March 13) was deemed “unproductive and regrettable” by the BJP.

These actions took place despite efforts by central leaders to address the concerns of Eastern Nagaland, the BJP said.

Highlighting the government’s “dedication to the development and welfare of Eastern Nagaland”, the BJP mentioned initiatives such as PM Matru Vandana Yojana, PM Awas Yojana and the establishment of the medical college at Mon district of Nagaland.

Additionally, a substantial financial allocation of Rs 180 crore under PM-DevINE for Eastern Nagaland underscores the government's commitment, the BJP stated.

The Nagaland BJP appealed to the ENPO for “patience and understanding”, stressing the importance of constructive dialogues for resolution.

They urged both parties to navigate any procedural complexities with magnanimity and patience, emphasizing the need for meaningful discussions that respect procedural and technical considerations.

Expressing confidence in the central government’s commitment to address Eastern Nagaland's concerns, the Nagaland unit of the BJP remained optimistic about “achieving positive and pragmatic outcomes through collaborative efforts”.
