Guwahati: A delegation of six renowned musicians from Northeast India recently concluded a successful cultural exchange tour in China's Yunnan Province.

The trip, organized by the Consulate General of China in Kolkata, aimed to strengthen cultural ties between the two countries.

The delegation, led by renowned composer and conductor James Shikiye Swu, included Nise Meruno, Alobo Naga, Guru Rewben Mashangva, Nungshitula Pongener, and Merenyangla Pongener.

These talented musicians showcased their diverse musical styles through performances and interactions with local communities.

The group's itinerary included visits to Kunming, Mangshi City, Longchuan County, and Ruili City. They participated in cultural exchanges, performed at local universities, and engaged with Yunnan's rich ethnic heritage.

A highlight of the tour was their attendance at the "Dynamic Yunnan" dance musical, a showcase of the region's cultural diversity.

The delegation's visit is part of a series of cultural exchanges initiated by the Consulate General of China in Kolkata.

Earlier this year, Indian Buddhist monks and a group of artists and scholars also visited Yunnan as part of the China-South Asia Cooperation Forum.

This cultural exchange underscores the growing collaboration between Northeast India and Yunnan Province, fostering mutual understanding and appreciation for music and arts across borders.
