Dimapur: The Yung Aung-led National Socialist Council of Nagaland (K) (NSCN-K) has expressed skepticism about a potential ceasefire agreement between the Myanmar government and the proscribed NSCN-Angmai group.

In a press release, the NSCN-K questioned the legitimacy of such an agreement, claiming that the two entities have been closely collaborating in recent times.

The NSCN-K asserted that any agreement reached between Myanmar and NSCN-Angmai would not represent the true political aspirations of the Naga people.

The group questioned the basis of the talks, stating that NSCN-Angmai lacks a clear political agenda and cannot represent the interests of the wider Naga community.

The NSCN-K emphasized that any understanding between Myanmar and NSCN-Angmai would be limited to those two entities and would not have any bearing on the broader Naga cause.

The group reiterated its sole claim to represent the sentiments and aspirations of the Naga people.

Furthermore, the NSCN-K slammed Myanmar's association with NSCN-Angmai, stating that it amounted to legitimizing an expelled group that poses a threat to the unity and stability of the eastern Nagas. The group accused NSCN-Angmai of attempting to mislead the people, dilute the Naga area, and exploit its resources.

The NSCN-K urged the Myanmar government to refrain from using NSCN-Angmai to undermine the political and security environment in the eastern Naga regions. The group warned against repeating India's strategy of dividing the Nagas, calling it a potential "big mistake."

The NSCN-K reminded Myanmar to avoid involving the NSCN/GPRN or the Naga people in its internal conflict.
