Dimapur: NSCN (IM) chairman Q Tuccu said the implementation of the political and peace agreement that the Framework Agreement stands for remained the only viable and ideal solution to the long-delayed Naga political solution.

In his address on the 45th NSCN raising day on Wednesday, Tuccu said: “We have shown remarkable resilience and loyalty to Framework Agreement despite all the difficulties.”

Terming recognition of the uniqueness of Naga history by the government of India on July 11, 2002, as a significant milestone in the Indo-Naga political dialogue, he said this was followed by signing the historic Framework Agreement of August 3, 2015, based on unique history and situation.

He said during Indo-Naga political talks, the historical narratives that constitute the uniqueness of Naga history were convincingly presented to the government of India.

“History is behind us to testify our identity and we shall never betray our history,” he added.

Tuccu said the signing of the Framework Agreement with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, doing the spadework, signified the importance of the much-awaited agreement. He said the NSCN is proud that the world at large came to know better about the Naga political issue that was zealously guarded by it.

“We have proved our credibility as the torch bearer of Naga political issue and national principle. We have stood the ground to stand by our flag and yehzabo that symbolize our history and national identity,” he said.

He recalled that before the 1997 ceasefire, the NSCN proved itself as a mighty fighting force to reckon with as testified by the top military generals of India, advising the political boss to seek a political solution as the Naga issue is a political issue that must be settled across the negotiating table and not in the battlefields.

“This prompted the government of India during the Congress rule under Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao to initiate peace mission when our top leaders were abroad and negotiated for a ceasefire to pave the way for political dialogue to explore peaceful means for Naga political solution,” he said.

Tuccu added that the five prime ministers of India that followed after Rao continued to stand by the NSCN-led Naga political movement. They never failed to voice their concerns about the legitimacy of the Naga issue that was animatedly defended by the NSCN, he said.

“Today, on this auspicious occasion I am proud to say that NSCN has stood the test of time. In the face of the rapidly changing times our commitment to the Naga political cause has remained steadfast,” Tuccu added.
