Dimapur: The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on Monday called the exit polls on the Lok Sabha elections a means to sabotage the voting in the country.

Addressing a press conference at the Congress Bhavan Dimapur, NPCC communication department chairperson Yanger Longkumer appealed to the people of the state not be deceived by such falsity but to wait for the poll results on Tuesday.

Exuding confidence that  Congress candidate for Nagaland’s lone Lok Sabha seat Supongmeren Jamir will emerge winner, he reiterated AICC leadership’s statement that the INDIA bloc would get 295-plus seats which is a comfortable majority to form the government at the Centre.

On the rumours circulating in the state that the ruling Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), which is in alliance with the BJP running the People’s Democratic Alliance government in the state, and other regional parties in the state will ally with whichever bloc be it INDIA and NDA forms the government, Longkumer said any possible alliance will be decided by the INDIA bloc.

“It is not in the hands of the NDPP or other regional parties nor with the NPCC,” he clarified.

Regarding the upcoming urban local body elections in the state, Longkumer said the Congress would in all the wards alone.

He said the party would continue to give priority to the women and youth candidates and appealed to the aspiring candidates for tickets.
