Nagaland CM directs AG to intervene in release of Naga youths held in Punjab

Guwahati: In an important move, the Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has asked the Advocate General K N Balgopal to personally intervene and take all necessary measures to secure the release of Naga youths “falsely implicated” in a case in Punjab.

According to reports, the Chief Minister discussed the issue of detention of 45 Naga youth at the Mohali Jail in Punjab with the state’s Advocate General K.N. Balgopal and directed him to personally intervene.

The 45 youths were apprehended in Chandigarh on May 14 this year after being accused of duping US citizens by masquerading as agents of big corporations like Amazon, Apple, and Microsoft.

Moreover, Rio also directed the Resident Commissioner in charge of Nagaland House, New Delhi to get in touch with the families of the Naga youths and extend all necessary help.

The Nagaland state government has asked parents or relatives of the Naga youths to contact the administration and provide the required information to get the youths released.
