Dimapur: The repairs on the crucial minor bridge along Jakhama NH-02 Kohima Mao Road that connects Nagaland with Manipur has been completed, said Kohima Deputy Commissioner Kumar Ramnikant.

The bridge, located at Chainage KM 200 950, suffered significant damage from Cyclone Remal on May 28, necessitating traffic restrictions for safety reasons.

Restrictions on all vehicles began on May 29, coinciding with the start of repairs. To minimize disruption, restrictions eased for light motor vehicles (LMVs) on June 3rd as partial repairs were finished.

Critical repairs, including foundation reinforcement and extension of support structures, were completed by June 14th. With a technical report confirming the bridge's safety, all traffic restrictions will be lifted on June 16th.

However, as a precaution, heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) will be allowed to cross one at a time with a 20 kmph speed limit until June 20th.
