KOHIMA: To ensure a fair and peaceful Lok Sabha election in the Nagaland parliamentary constituency, Zunheboto deputy commissioner, Rahul Bhanudas Mali, has issued a directive requiring all arms license holders in Zunheboto district of Nagaland to surrender their firearms and licenses at the nearest police station.

This submission must occur between March 7 and April 6, and individuals must obtain proper receipts for their deposits.

The surrendered firearms will be securely stored at the respective police stations until one week after the election results are declared or until the conclusion of the election process.

Additionally, the Zunheboto deputy commissioner has prohibited the carrying of arms for any purpose other than the verification or submission process.

Non-compliance with this directive will result in the cancellation of arms licenses or appropriate legal action as per existing regulations.

This measure aims to uphold the integrity of the electoral process and ensure the safety and security of all citizens during the election period.
