Dimapur: Nagaland's Tourism Minister, Temjen Imna Along, said the state government is committed to transforming Naga Heritage Village Kisama into a world-class heritage destination.

This ambitious goal is part of the preparations for the 25th anniversary of the Hornbill Festival, a ten-day extravaganza that attracts tourists from around the world.

The festival will be held from December 1-10 at the Naga Heritage Village, which is currently undergoing extensive renovations to enhance the visitor experience.

Reflecting on the festival's journey, Along said the Hornbill Festival embodies the unique culture, traditions, and music of the Naga tribes, fostering unity and showcasing their rich heritage.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, the festival has witnessed significant progress, evolving into an international event, he said.

Along acknowledged the contributions of former Chief Minister SC Jamir in laying the foundation for the festival's success.

One of the major developments at Kisama is the construction of a modern amphitheater capable of accommodating over 7,000 people. This year's festival promises to offer new and exciting experiences for visitors.

Addressing concerns about traffic management during the festival, Along assured that improved regulations and coordination between the traffic and home departments would help alleviate congestion.

He urged the public to adopt responsible practices like carpooling and using public transportation.

With the goal of surpassing last year's attendance of over 150,000 visitors, the tourism department is expecting a larger influx of tourists this year.

Wales has been designated as the country partner for the 25th anniversary, further enhancing the festival's international appeal.

The tourism department, in collaboration with allied departments, is working tirelessly to ensure a memorable and successful celebration of the Hornbill Festival's 25th anniversary.
