MP from Bangladesh on medical visit to Kolkata goes missing

Guwahati: A MP from Jhenaidah-4 constituency in Bangladesh Anwarul Azim Anar, has been apparently missing since May 14 in Kolkata.

The lawmaker came to Kolkata on May 11 and was in touch with his family till May 14 and after that, there has been no communication from him.

According to reports, the family members of Anar on Sunday met with the official of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) detective branch in the capital.

Chief of DMP DB Harun-or-Rashid told the media that they were in contact with the Indian officials to locate him.

According to local media reports, he had sought some money from his manager on May 14. During that time he was in a private car with some Indian friends after attending a wedding ceremony.

Apparently, there has been no trace of MP Anar since taking this money.

Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi has also been following up with the MEA in New Delhi, said the official.
