Assam: Movement of traffic prohibited over old Dikhow bridge in Sivasagar

Guwahati: The Sivasagar district administration has prohibited movement of traffic along the old bridge over Dikhow river in Assam.

The prohibition has been issued in view of the deplorable condition of the old Dikhow bridge.

The administration has felt that the bridge poses safety hazards for commuters.

Even pedestrians are advised not to use the old Dikhow bridge.

The notification to be abided by with immediate effect has been issued by the relief and disaster management cell of the deputy commissioner’s office of Sivasagar district.

The order has been issued as per the Disaster Management Act 2005 in exercise of the the powers of the district administration under section 34 B and C.

The district administration has further notified that action will be taken as per law against those violating the order.
