New NCC group HQ planned in Mizoram; govt starts location assessment
Aizawl: The Mizoram government is making efforts to identify a suitable location and assess other requirements for establishing a new NCC Mizoram Group Headquarters in the state, an official statement said on Thursday.
Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Thursday chaired a meeting to review the progress of work for the establishment of the new headquarters, it said.
The meeting was attended by State Sports Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar and senior officials, it added.
NCC authorities had proposed setting up a separate Mizoram Group Headquarters within the state in July, and the proposal was approved by the Council of Ministers in September.
The statement said that the identification of a suitable location and the assessment of requirements for the new headquarters are currently underway.
According to officials, there are currently four NCC units in Mizoram with around 8,000 cadets, all under the administrative control of the Silchar Group Headquarters.
Under the NCC structure, all units function under their respective Group Headquarters, and the establishment of the Mizoram Group Headquarters will be taken forward by the state government, they said.
