Guwahati: The North Eastern Council (NEC) released Rs 4.89 crore to Mizoram in December 2025 to support infrastructure, livelihoods, and cultural initiatives in the state.

This forms part of a larger Rs 76.78 crore disbursed across Northeastern states and regional agencies during the month.

Mizoram’s share will fund projects such as a fish farmer training centre at Lengpui, a Mizo cultural heritage centre at Kawlri in Serchhip district, and IT-based initiatives to monitor mineral resources and boost state revenue.

Additionally, the NEC released Rs 26.47 crore to regional agencies across the Northeast to support programs run by universities, research institutes, cultural bodies, and specialised corporations.

These include skill development, agricultural innovation, and cultural preservation projects.

The NEC stated that the release will help boost infrastructure, livelihoods, research, innovation, and cultural initiatives across the Northeast region.
