Guwahati: A project to install a gas pipeline from Tripura to Mizoram is moving forward steadily, officials confirmed on Wednesday, November 6.

Once finished, the pipeline will deliver piped gas connections to households in Mizoram, especially in the capital city, Aizawl.

On Tuesday, Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Minister B. Lalchhanzova led a review meeting to evaluate the project’s progress. The initiative falls under the North East Gas Grid (NEGG) program and aims to enhance energy access across the region.

The pipeline will run 119 km from Parisagar in Tripura to Sihhmui near Aizawl, with 104 km traversing Mizoram and the remainder in Tripura. Officials reported that workers have already completed approximately 28 km, representing 23.5% of the total project length.

The Mizoram government and Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited, which is executing the project, are implementing strategies to expedite construction on the remaining sections to ensure timely completion.
