Mizoram: Union Minister Ram Nath Thakur prioritises development of remote Siaha district
Aizawl: Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Ram Nath Thakur, on Monday said that the development of remote and needy areas remains a top priority for the Centre.
Thakur, who is on a three-day tour, visited south Mizoram's Siaha district, which shares a border with Myanmar, on Monday.
Addressing a function after inspecting an exhibition organised by the agriculture department in Siaha, Thakur said his visit aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision and assured that the challenges and requirements of the people of Siaha would be conveyed directly to the Prime Minister.
He said the Centre is committed to developing remote and underdeveloped areas, which remains its top priority.
He urged all stakeholders to work diligently and implement all central schemes effectively in the southern district.
Assuring that support from the Central Government would continue, Thakur encouraged people to submit their needs and proposals for further assistance.
Later in the day, the Union Minister also visited Siaha Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and the district hospital.
During his visit to the KVK, Thakur highlighted the important role of farmers in the country and said the Centre places great emphasis on improving farmers’ welfare and livelihood.
He urged the KVK to keep making progress and continue contributing to the empowerment of local farmers.
Thakur will leave for Delhi after meeting state Governor Vijay Kumar Singh at Raj Bhavan, according to officials.
