Mizoram: Two Myanmar nationals held with Heroin worth over Rs 10 crore

AIZAWL: Two Myanmar nationals, including a woman, were arrested for possessing 1.5 kilograms of heroin worth Rs 10.65 crore in east Mizoram's Champhai district, Assam Rifles said in a statement on Friday.

The operation was carried out jointly with Mizoram police at Hnahlan village on Wednesday, the statement said.

The accused have been identified as Ngailunniang (50) and Kamsong (53), both hailing from Darkhai district and Phinak district in Myanmar's Chin state, it said.

The contraband was sealed in 110 soap cases.

In another operation on Wednesday, Assam Rifles and Mizoram police also seized 50.8 grams of heroin worth Rs. 35.6 lakh in Aizawl, the statement said.

No peddler has been arrested in connection with the seizure as an unidentified person threw the contraband item and escaped to nearby dense jungles, it said.
