Mizoram: Two held with heroin worth Rs 22.7 lakh in Aizawl

Aizawl: Two women were arrested for possessing suspected heroin worth Rs 22.7 lakh at Maubawk village near Aizawl, Mizoram on Thursday, Assam Rifles said in a statement. 

Acting on specific information, Assam Rifles and Mizoram police launched a joint operation at the village and recovered 32.4 grams of heroin from the possession of the two women, it said.

The two accused have been identified as Vanlalsawmi (42), a resident of Maubawk and Kimkholhing Hanghal (43) of Manipur's Churachandpur district, it said.

Both the accused and the seized contraband worth Rs 22.7 lakh were handed over to the Special Narcotics police station, CID (Crime) in Aizawl, the statement added.

Further investigation regarding the source of the drugs is being carried out.
