Mizoram: Two-day ‘Tlaizawng Paradise’ cherry blossom festival opens in Saitual
Aizawl: Two-day Tlaizawng or cherry blossom paradise, a tourism event to boost economy and preserve natural resources, was opened by Mizoram assembly speaker Lalbiakzama at Phuaibuang village in Saitual district near the Manipur border on Tuesday, officials said.
The event was attended by state tourism minister Lalnghinglova Hmar, tourism department officials, community leaders from Phuaibuang and Luangpawn villages and a large number of visitors, they said.
Speaking on the occasion, Lalbiakzama said the event is being organised to attract tourists by harnessing the natural wealth and beauty of the land.
He emphasized the importance of showing hospitality to guests or tourists, who visit the state to witness and appreciate the local beauty.
He said that community unity and cooperation are essential for tourism promotion in the state.
Hmar expressed hope that the Tlaizawng paradise event would bring economic benefits to Phuaibuang and surrounding villages through tourism.
He remarked on the importance of utilizing the state's beauty to attract tourists while simultaneously preserving natural resources.
The minister also expressed hope that the initiative would lead to progress in tourism.
Cherry blossom is locally known as Tlaizawng and Phuaibuang and its surroundings area is famous for this flower or tree.
The two day "Tlaizawng Paradise" event will feature adventure tourism activities such as visit to caves, mountain hiking and mass angling.
About 600 people participate at a grand angling held in Tuivai river near Phuaibung village on Tuesday, according to officials.
Various local handicrafts and handloom products will be displayed at Phuaibuang play ground during the event besides cultural and musical event, they said.
