Mizoram: Security forces seize Heroin & Meth tablets worth over Rs 13 crore
AIZAWL: Acting on specific information, Assam Rifles and Mizoram police seized heroin and Methamphetamine tablets worth Rs 13.3 crore in Champhai district of Mizoram in the past two days, an Assam Rifles official said.
605 grams of heroin worth Rs 4.23 core was recovered at Mualkawi in Champhai district of Mizoram from the possession of Lalremruata (23), a resident of Zokhawthar in Champhai district during a joint operation on Wednesday, he said.
In another joint operation, 30,300 tablets of Methamphetamine worth Rs 9 crore and 17.49 lakh unaccounted cash were recovered at Zokhawthar on the Mizoram-Myanmar border on Thursday (February 08), he said.
A 40-year-old Harish Uddin from Assam's Karimganj district has been arrested for possessing the Meth tablets and unaccounted cash, the official said.
The seized items and the two accused were handed over to police department in Champhai and Zokhawthar in Mizoram for further legal proceedings, he added.
